Talking Smut at Petit Trianon

Louis XVI could not just go see his wife like any regular husband would. To enter Her Majesty’s domain at Petit Trianon he had to be invited. Perhaps he didn’t like going there that much, anyway. Habitually he sat around till eleven, then returned to the real palace and slept there. One evening a courtier in the entourage of Marie-Antoinette advanced the clock some twenty minutes. The king left. Finally everyone could talk.  If the conversation got too racy, the Queen would snap her fan.
