Snooping Around At Chateau Versailles First Thing In the Morning


If you come to Chateau Versailles early enough when the sunlight hits and penetrates the South Wing from the East, the baroque facade will reveal to you one of its secrets: there is no “interior” to the top floor! Zoom in through the windows —  and you will see nothing but the structural elements of the building.

I wonder if it is not from there that Louis XVI spied with his telescope on the courtiers frolicking in the park?
