Another Apparition: the Ghosts Of Marie-Antoinette And Louis XVI

These ghosts are well known. The image has mutated a little. But it is still recognizable. In the twentieth century its hour-glass version became a famous icon that has been spreading steadily across psychology textbooks: the figure and the background trade places and what has been a white spot becomes a profile, on the left of Louis XVI, on the right of Marie-Antoinette. The phantoms are simplified and demystified, and the secret museum with the royalist memorabilia is now embraced by a larger collection of  the decorative arts of Bordeaux.
