Mother Queen at Versailles

P1016757 (FILEminimizer)Louis XIII didn’t like women; and when he told his wife that she is going to be the only woman in his life, he meant it; this is why Ann of Austria was never welcome at the hunting cottage of Versailles — this was a men’s club; and this is why she never particularly cared for the place, even after her son had built it up; then as far as the relationship with women, the son was the opposite of his father; and though Louis XIV too intended Versailles as a get-away place, he meant to get away from his mother. Mother-Queen’s apartment was at the Louvre. At Versailles she was always treated as a guest.
