Versailles and Stages of Life

P1014622 (FILEminimizer) In my dream I see all sorts of women crowded on an island. My first intention is to swim; second to build a raft and permanently move with my posessions; then I decide to wait: they’ll swim themselves! Indeed, why swim? I see them very well from where I am right now…. P1014623 (FILEminimizer) How do you find my four seasons? We could turn it into a parable, or a dirty joke. We could make it about three, and not four stages of life: I don’t know — an apprentice, a head of the household, a sage? Because the fourth one is already difficult to name. I hesitate, what does that impotent voyer represent? P1014624 (FILEminimizer) And what would happen if I wanted to write the same text for a dosen — the twelve stages of life? Impossible you say? And you are right! That’s what this wall of Chateau Versailles is all about. Twelve stages of life, corresponding to the signs of zodiac — an impossible task, especially if you had to represent it as a group portrait: how could you guess the age difference, if the age difference is only about six years? The project was doomed to failure, quickly forgotten, and had to wait, just like another wretched genie in his botttle, for a couple of hundred years for me to bother mentioning it.
